Schloss Lieser
Lieser Niederberg Helden, Riesling, Spätlese, 2021
justerini & brooks tasting note
A more voluminous wine, the Helden oozes with sweet stone fruits and tropicality; so plush and juicy and fleshy, yet cut through with an absolute beam of ripe acidity. At this point it shows a little more density than the others, but it will come good with a few years in the cellar.

The 2021 Niederberg Helden Spatlese opens with a clear, intense, very elegant, savory and classic Spatlese nose, with blue slate splinters in its ripe but crisp and crunchy fruit. Lush and saline on the palate, this is a very elegant and balanced Spatlese with a coolish, crisp and mouthwatering finish. This is a picture-book Spatlese in the quaffable, savory rather than lush and sweet style. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022.
