Juicy and seemingly more vital than the Kabinett, the 2022 has a basket of red apples, crystalline honey and grapefruit juice. Such lovely purity, a Spätlese with everything in the right proportion.

The 2022 Riesling Lieserer Niederberg Helden Spätlese opens with an initial yeasty funk, slowly revealing creaminess and a sense of tender, ripe yellow plum. The palate adds flesh to these aromatic bones, with juicy texture and sweetness bedded into the fruit, serene, textured. A grapefruit tinge balances this pure, airy vision of ripe stone fruit flesh alongside slate, anchoring this in a salty base. The 80-85g/L of sugar just seems to disappear in this salty, citric marvel. (Sweet)
