A simply fabulous clear bright yellow green colour for a BA, this is the magic of German Riesling on slate, rich layered and complex yet so racy and moreish, vivid flavours of zest, pineapple, sicilian lemon, nectarine, salt and mineral. A candidate for wine of the vintage. Stunning. The Halenberg has distinctive blue slate / quartzite soils and is incredibly steep, yielding wines of great minerality, firmness and longevity Frank Schoenleber finished his harvest the 17th October, a week later there was rain. The grapes came into the winery were in perfect healty, ripe, concentrated and very clean. The Dry wines are intense and big "like 2009" Frank says adding that "conditions was also perfect for very pure late harvest wines."

Rich golden yellow. Sublime aromas of candied citrus fruits, lemon oil and acacia honey on a bed of smoky botrytis. The succulent weight of papaya fruit levitates with understated minerality on the palate. A fine balance of creamy fruit and herbal spice linger tantalisingly on an unending finish. One of the great wines of the vintage!

A great Nahe estate that was started by Werner Schönleber in the 1960s with just two hectares. Today the estate comprises 14 hectares, mainly Riesling, on the slate and quartzite soils of the Halenberg and Frühlingsplatzchen vineyards. Intense vineyard work and spontaneous fermentation in old oak casks together with ageing in steel vat conspire to produce intense, long lived Nahe Riesling that combines floral, charming qualitites with intense minerality. For the last five years, this estate has been perfoming to is maximum, rivalling Germany’s very greatest producers.
