Okonomierat Rebholz
Ganzhorn, Riesling, Grosses Gewächs, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
Very pure and taut with beautiful ripe yellow peach flesh layered on red stones, bright, stimulating and so alluring. On palate red apples and grapefruit, but also a spicy mineral element that is at once calm but also wonderfully complex. Bright and textured, like sunshine on terracotta, a fusion of fruit and minerality that stretches away across the palate. A wine of nobility, depth and poise. “Ganzhorn” is the old name for the south facing Im Sonnenshein vineyard, and now refers to a high quality selection from within that vineyard that is vinified and bottled separately. The soils are colourful sandstone and gravel.
