Im Sonnenschein, Riesling, Grosses Gewächs, 2024
High toned, fine and flinty with a core of ripe lemon and verbena. Very stony and clear, salty, full of impact and drama but also finesse. The GG was picked in the first week of September, which in some years poses a challenge as that can mean sugar without flavour, but in 2024 the aromatics were present with the requisite structure. Certainly, one of the best they have made.
critic reviews
The 2024 Riesling Siebeldinger Im Sonnenschein Grosses Gewächs was made from over 60-year-old vines grown on Triassic limestone. Subtle smoke clings to lifted lemon, leading to a most luminous, salty lemony palate. This benefits from the smoothing effect of limestone and an inherent creaminess that makes the body seem rounder. This is an ultra-fine, ultra-svelte 2024 with such depth. (Bone-dry)
