Battenfeld-Spanier
Mölsheim, Riesling, Aus dem Erste Lagen, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
Refined cool and crystalline in style with a tight fine thread of freshness – clear, crisp and moreish, with some zesty class. Molsheim is produced from vines between the Grosse Lagen Kreuzberg and Schwarzer Herrgott including young vines from the latter. As such, it is now bottled with the Premier Cru designate “Aus dem Erste Lagen” and marked on the label “1G”.

The 2023 Molsheim Riesling 1G is dense and intense on the chalky/mineral as well as lemony nose. Fresh, savory and stimulating on the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, straight and lemon-bitter as well as saline-finishing Riesling from the Silberberg and Zellerweg am Schwarzen Herrgott. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.
