critic reviews

98/100Stephan Reinhardt,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2024 Rothenberg Nackenheim Riesling GG Wurzelecht is deep, pure and saline on the lemon-fresh, crunchy, saline and clay-scented nose. Pure and savory on the palate, this is a light yet intense Riesling with lots of grip and tension as well as complexity without losing brightness, finesse and energy. It's a great, very saline and crunchy Riesling from ungrafted vines. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam 10 cork. Tasted in August 2025.

The 2024 Riesling Nackenheimer Rothenberg Wurzelecht Grosses Gewächs is from ungrafted vines that were planted in 1934. Its subtle reduction accompanies a darker aspect of red apple peel. The palate reinforces this impression, providing a sense of freshness. There is something essence-like about this. It is full of concentration, texture and depth, coming across like an elixir that holds citrus, red apple, herbal tincture and so much savor. The 2024 will take time to open up, so treasure it. The finish has an irresistible saltiness. (Bone-dry)
