A stunning, crystalline wine, the 2013 Langhe Nebbiolo will give readers a very good idea of what this vintage promises. The 2013 opens with the most alluring aromatics imaginable. Weightless and crystalline on the palate, Mascarello's Nebbiolo simply dazzles. A host of lavender, orange peel, white pepper and violet scents float across the palate, but it is the total package that impresses most. And the 2013 has it. All of it. Think of Nebbiolo as a village-level Burgundy from a great producer in a top vintage. Mascarello's Langhe Nebbiolo is mostly young-vine Cannubi fruit. Readers who can find it should not hesitate.
