Barolo, Pajana, 2005
More aromatic than the Ginestra, sweeter and more open initially but still with plenty of grip and force. In fact, this is one of the more powerful and intense Pajanas whilst maintaining great composure. A very polished and complete Barolo. Rich, sweet, smooth but tight-packed and well defined. This exhibits flavours of ripe tayberry, bramble, blueberry cherry and plum flavours, encircled by juicy, vital acids.
critic reviews
Domenico Clerico's 2005 Barolo Pajana is a dark, sensual beauty. The tannins the wine had when young have softened, allowing the fruit to come through loud and clear. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, orange peel and leather all meld together. Sumptuous, forward and deeply expressive, the 2005 will drink well for another decade or so. This is a terrific showing from Domenico Clerico. Simply put, the 2005 is in the zone right now.
