Barolo, Rocche di Castiglione, 2012
Tight knit and fine, less immediate or bold than Villero but this is all about charm. Wonderful for its clarity, focus and freshness. Stylish, fine red berry and cherry fruit with touches of kirsch. Long and effortless A south east facing Castiglione vineyard with a touch of sand in the clay soils giving fresh, fragrant, elegant wines.
critic reviews
The 2012 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is extremely beautiful, open-knit and seductive. In other words; pure Rocche. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red berries and bright spices come together in an effortless, lifted Barolo endowed with real class and pedigree. Unusually open at this stage, the 2012 is quite expressive, with striking purity in its fruit and fabulous overall balance. This racy, perfumed Barolo should drink well with minimal cellaring. There is so much to like.
