    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Giovanni Corino, Barolo, Vigna Giachini, 2003

The Giachini is a parcel in the lower part of the Rocche del'Annunziata vineyard. Strong complex aromas of spice and fruit, sweet ripe flavours but very tight-packed and fine-tuned, generous but also lovely defined, precise tannins, wonderfully perfumed hedegrow fruits with touches of bitter-sweet dark chocolate. Aged in 50% new oak.

Corino's 2003 Barolo is fresher on the palate than it is on the bouquet, where the aromatics are a bit more forward. This is a pretty Barolo that should stay at a plateau of maturity for at least a few years. In this tasting, the Giachini is not as impressive as it has been in the past. I would not be surprised if this is a less than perfect example.
