Giovanni Corino
Barolo, Vigna Giachini, 2005
justerini & brooks tasting note
The Giachini is a fine parcel of La Morra vines situated in the lower part of the Rocche del’Annunziata vineyard. Aged in 40% new oak, this is a particularly spicy Giachini, offering flavours of vanilla pod, cinnamon spice and dark chocolate, with beautifully textured, bright blueberry, redcurrant and mineral characteristics bolstered by excellent, well-defined tannins.

90/100Antonio Galloni,Vinous
The 2005 Barolo Giachini is dark, sensual and inviting. Black cherry, graphite, game, chocolate, smoke, licorice and dark spices meld into the powerful finish. This is an especially brooding Giachini, with all of its elements in the right place. Today, the Giachini shows a bit better balance than it did as a young wine.
