    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Quiet and composed on the nose initially, however a taste soon reveals an intensely focused, vibrant wine brimming with ultra-fine redcurrant, rose petal, raspberry and loganberry fruit, alongside bright rock mineral and salt notes and finishing on a faint liquorice undertone. Bewitchingly elegant, haunting and so intense, this is beautiful yet has so much more to give. Glorious. The Scavinos’ have 1.5 hectares in this great Cru, one of the finest vineyards in Barolo. A sandy south facing vineyard planted with old vines, dating back to 1942, situated at 380 metres above sea level. This is released as a Riserva and so is aged for one year in barriques and two years in large oak casks, followed by a year in bottle.

Scavino's 2010 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata stands out for its finesse, inner perfume and detail, all hallmarks of this great La Morra site. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint and spices abound in a Barolo that is all about elegance. Constantly changing in the glass, the 2010 is a model of pure grace and sensuality. Sweet, silky tannins support the suave, textured finish.
