The 2023 Siepi is fabulous. Black cherry, plum, crème de cassis, incense, licorice, bittersweet chocolate and cloves soar form the glass. Even with all its intensity, the 2023 remains vibrant and beautifully poised. Sensual contours wrap it all together in style. Siepi is another wine that shows just how much these wines have moved in the direction of finesse over power. Sadly, yields are down 50% because of low fertility in the vineyard.
Showing the characteristic generosity of Siepi, with red liquorice, blood orange, baked raspberries, concentrated and opulent, vivid ruby colour, delicious. A vintage with reduced yield after issues with flowering. 75% new oak for ageing. The Mazzei family of Siepi is currently on its 25th generation of winemakers, based at Castello di Fonterutoli in Castellina in Chianti, farmed organically since 2006, with Siepi from a 6ha site.
