Valpolicella is one of Italy´s most recognisable wine regions, located in north-eastern Italy, next to Soave. The appellation covers a variety of styles, from the lighter, tangy and refreshing Valpolicella to the powerful, full bodied Amarone and everything in between. At the heart of what makes Valpolicella so special is Corvina, which is the mainstay of all wines produced here, particularly Ripasso, Amarone and Recioto styles. Whilst the region is mostly known by the wines made by the passito method of drying grapes, terroir focused producers like Viviani are increasingly changing the focus back to the land and the differences therein.
