This was the wine singing most in our 2023 tasting, and rates as the best Calvert we have tasted. There is all of that typical Calvert density and structure, yet in 2023 this muscled power is aligned to an attractive, floral fruit and gloriously ripe, smooth texture. There is style, detail, energy and intensity in equal measure. There is a subtle exhibition of power, and is a wine that seems to grow over time. Great energy and concentration with fine, chalky tannins on the finish. This is Felton’s smallest vineyard. The wines have made greater strides in quality than any other in the range , thanks to the increase in vine age. Soils are very clay orientated 25% whole Clusters. 16 Months in 25% French new Oak Barrels.
