Dry River
Pinot Noir, Martinborough, 2007
justerini & brooks tasting note
Quite probably one of the most sophisticated, refined and complex Pinots not to hail from Burgundy, Dr Neil McCallum’s rigour and attention to detail in particularly low-yielding vineyards together with a watchful but hands off approach to winemaking, result in wine of concentration intensity yet subtlety. The 2007 is glorious, fine herbal, floral very silky and long with a really juicy bite to it, pure, gentley extracted, acutely precise fruit characteristics of crushed cherries, boysenberries, brambles and raspberries, finishing long and fresh. Utterly seamless.
