The estate’s entry level red, Pretexto is sourced from both subzones to a fresh, easy going style. A four variety blend of Jaen, Tinto Roriz, Alfrochiero and Touriga Nacional fermented in stainless steel. Varying proportions of whole bunches are employed depending on the variety and aging takes place in a combination of small and large barrels. 30 day cuvaison and a small percentage of whole berries allows for a touch of carbonic which helps to lift the sensation of fine, pretty fruits. Ripe, peppery and juicy on the nose with some herb, forest fruit and pine notes on the palate.
