Taylor's, Very Old Single Harvest Port, 1975
justerini & brooks tasting note
Still incredibly vibrant and fruit forward, the nose and palate are awash with berry fruits, plum and damson, with a touch of filigreed wild strawberry and fresh lemon thyme. This is intertwined with a plush sweetness and supremely glossy tannins. A rich vein of heady treacle and maple syrup permeate through the layers, but it is accented by fragrant honeysuckle and orange blossom. It also exhibits some delightful maturity that is deftly seductive and wonderfully juxtaposed with the fruit. Orange peel, prunes, dates and a dash of liquorice meld effortlessly with the notes of cigar box and worn leather.
