Wit Versnit, Patatsfontein Wines, 2022

Wit Vernit means “White Blend” and this replaces the old name Patatsblanc, with a refreshed label bringing this wine in line with the Old Vines Steen. 68% Colombard and 32% Chenin Blanc, it is crisp and saline offering little citrus notes, blossom and slate notes – a wine of racy texture and brittle acidity, South Africa’s answer to Chablis? Planted at 800m elevation, raised in a combination of used barrel and concrete for 10 months. 12.5% ABV.
