Grenache Blanc, 2022

Produced from fruit grown 50% Voor-Paardeberg (Granite) and 50% Piekenierskloof (Sandstone), at 650m elevation. The higher plot in the Piekenierskloof produces berries with thicker skins thanks to bigger day/night swings in temperature. The Voor-Paardeberg has a much warmer microclimate, moderated by a light south-westerly wind which helps to cool the grapes. Whole cluster pressed directly in to 500L old oak and kept on the lees for eight months rather than the usual ten. The 2022 Grenache Blanc displays an array of green fruits, pear, greengages, herbs and a fine stony finish. Malo stops at 50%, which helps to retain acidity. Nice cut and grip to the finish and intensity overall. Just 1,400bts were produced.
