Winds of Change, Syrah, 2021

An ode to California’s cool and windy sites, the 2021 Winds of Change Syrah represents the first (almost) pure Syrah rendition of this wine (there’s around 1% Viognier co-fermented in certain lots). A shade under 2/3 of the blend comes from Santa Barbera County, while the rest hails from north coast sites. Leaping from the glass with spicy, smoky bacon fat and juniper aromas, wild dark berry fruit and garrigue herbs, this is a wonderfully inviting Syrah with an undercarriage of delicious dark fruit, that invites you back again and again by virtue of its total vitality and expression. Wild fermented with almost 50% whole bunches, aged in in used 500L barrels with no racking, fining or filtration.
