Bright and chiselled with lifted aromatics and crisp, fresh tannins, this is a very serious DI CO; a finely tuned, mineral soaked, cherry and liquorice flavoured ball of energy from the Raphael vineyard in Napa's Oak Knoll district. I love the sense of classicism allied to real movement - you can see this ageing into a Napa of yesteryear with modern sense of clarity and tannic finesse. Those refined yet gripping tannins work alongside bright acidity, as notes of herbs, wild cherry and fine stones dominate the palate. Vivid and intense and invigorating. This should provide exceptional drinking in 5 years’ time and go on for a further decade at least.
