Intense, concentrated, poised, bursting with controlled but fleshy cassis and bilberry fruits, firm tannic frame, a ton of ageing potential without losing the joyful ability of Napa Cabernet to be approached within a few years of bottling. The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon shows good potential. Dark and vibrant, with notable energy, the 2023 is a raw, embryonic wine that needs time to come together. Dark fruit, espresso, chocolate, new leather and licorice are dialed up. The 2023 is solid, but not exciting.
