Nuits St Georges, Les Pruliers, 1er Cru, 2008
A parcel of predominantly 50-year-old vines close to Clos des Porrets, this has a wonderful nose of autumn raspberries and flavours of sweet wild strawberries, sloes , damson and redcurrants a offset by a vivacious minerally edge. Very complex, linear and ripe Nuits bolstered by finely clasped noble fruit tannins.

The 2008 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a pretty bouquet with cranberry, pomegranate, bergamot and Vervane tea aromas that gently unfold from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite crisp and certainly conveying more energy and tension than the 2007. It gently fans out towards the finish that is a little ferrous in style, with a dash of cracked pepper on the finish. Excellent. Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte.
