Nuits St Georges, Les Pruliers, 1er Cru, 2023
A deeper, darker set of fruit defines the Pruliers, with supple, sleek tannins, dark cherry notes, mulberry, but also surprising freshness. Very fine tannins threaded throughout. A parcel of 50-year-old vines close to Clos des Porrets that, like its neighbour, also produces classic mineral Nuits but with a touch more roundness. The soils are similar although in Pruliers the stone elements are a little more broken down.
critic reviews
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has an airy, well-defined, perfumed bouquet with blackberry, boysenberry and violet aromas. It is quite Vosne-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, slightly tarry black fruit that exerts fine grip and a hint of cracked black pepper toward the finish. It's not quite as finessed as the 2021, but I appreciate the density here.
