Chambolle Musigny, Les Fuées, 1er Cru, 2012
Sweetly scented and seductive on the nose, the palate is tenser and more gripping than the aromas suggest but explodes with razor sharp fruit characteristics of cherry, alpine strawberry and raspberry. A stunner but one for the future. One of Chambolle’s higher Premier Cru vineyards, Ghislaine’s parcel is over 75 years old and produces intense, deeply complex and very refined wines.
critic reviews
Moderately saturated medium red. Knockout nose combines red cherry, strawberry liqueur, crushed stone and graphite minerality. Fat, silky and fine-grained, showing subtle energy to the broad flavors of wild red fruits and wild herbs. More a wine of finesse than a 2012 powerhouse. Finishes with suave tannins and lovely subtle perfume. This should evolve beautifully.
