Cairanne, Les Douyes, 2019

An open, expressive nose with a cherry blossom touch. Open-knit, rich but fresh. Flamboyant at first but with a dense dark core. Rich plum and cherry fruit with a liquorice and pepper spice twang. Full, satisfying and meaty; perhaps a more classic Southern Rhône than the Haut Coustias. Les Douyes is a limestone influenced east/north-east facing single vineyard with a bias towards Grenache (60%) with the remainder being planted to Mourvèdre. Aged for 18-20 months in neutral oak barrels, bottled without fining or filtration.
