Oratoire Saint Martin
Cairanne, Haut Coustias, 2020
justerini & brooks tasting note
Mainly Grenache with some Mourvèdre and a hint of Syrah. The estate’s top cuvée, a blend of old parcels planted on clay soils with a high active limestone. More tannic and less Mediterranean than the Douyes. Backboned, firm but fresh bramble fruit. Gripping, serious and driven. This gets a little longer in barrel than the rest of the wines, and you can see why – it is full of intense, complex, structured fruit. A great vin de garde.
