La Combe Verte, Pinot Noir, 2022

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Crispy crunchy cranberry and cherry stone aromas over salty rock notes. Sleek and crystalline of structure, with ripe red fruit on the palate, plenty of lift, purity and freshness. A cleansing, charming, supple pinot of great symmetry and transparency. This is the best rendition we’ve tasted and offers old world sensibility allied to Willamette Valley accessibility.

critic reviews

94/100Erin Brooks,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2022 Pinot Noir La Combe Verte was sourced from vineyards planted on both volcanic and sedimentary soils, including Distraction, Freedom Hill, Sojeau, Temperance Hill and Witness Tree. Matured for 10 months in 25% new French oak, it opens with flinty reduction that gives way to cranberry, pomegranate, raspberry, forest floor and bitters. The palate offers bright, spicy red fruit, tea-textured tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, pure finish. Complex and expressive, the 2022 La Combe Verte is approachable now, although it will develop savory complexity in bottle over the next decade or more. 1,480 cases produced.

product details

In the decade since their first bottling, this husband and wife team has created a reputation for producing some of Oregon’s most exciting wines. They are hard to come by, produced in tiny quantities, and beloved by critics. We would go so far as to say these are some of the most immediately impressive Chardonnays we’ve come across from the new world.

The 2022 Pinot might be the best rendition we’ve tasted – a wine of great symmetry that offers exceptional quality for the price and brims with signature Walter Scott purity and energy. With a lovely ripe bright seamless quality to the fruit and great transparency, this is the perfect gateway to Ken and Erica’s increasingly excellent Pinot Noirs.
