Paolo Scavino
Barolo, Bricco Ambrogio, 2022
justerini & brooks tasting note
Bricco Ambrogio offers creamy forest fruit and dark cherries, with some herbs and breezy acidity. A vineyard close to the Scavinos’ hearts, they bought in to the relatively unknown Bricco Ambrogio in 2002 and have expanded their holdings from 5ha to 7ha. The top cru of the lesser-known commune of Roddi, a very windy terroir exposed southeast and planted at 150 metres above sea level.

The 2022 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is generous and inviting right out of the gate. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, licorice, chocolate and dried herbs open first in a mid-weight, juicy Barolo that is all charm. Floral notes lift the sensual finish. This soft, engaging Barolo will be easy to drink on release.
