Barolo, 2021
Cushioned and fruity in style, with top note of nuts and sweet spice, this is a fruity and accessible Barolo Classico with pleasant citrus hints. It is produced from eight different vineyards in La Morra, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga and Monforte d’Alba and aged in large casks for two years. The blend is made after the first year of ageing in which all the vineyards are kept separate. Ready to drink on release.
critic reviews
To be released in January 2025, the Paolo Scavino 2021 Barolo is bright and vivid, showing the focus and character of the vintage. This sample is still quite tight, and the tannins are firmly knit. However, the tannins are more elegant and silkier in the 2021 compared to 2020. I recommend giving this wine more time in bottle to allow it to fully flesh out.
The 2021 Barolo is a terrific entry-level offering from Scavino. Crushed flowers, spice and dried herbs give this mid-weight, juicy Barolo striking aromatic presence. Soft and silky on the palate, with racy, forward fruit, the 2021 is a delight. Drink it over the next handful of years.
