Chardonnay, Limited Range, 2021
Tighter, more reductive and flintier in style than its “Hills” counterpart, the Limited Chardonnay has a youthful intensity with more overt salinity and tension. From a 580m northeast facing vineyard in Lenswood, there is a higher proportion of sandstone in the subsoil. Whole cluster pressed and fermented and raised sur lie in 500L puncheon for 10 months.
critic reviews
The 2021 Chardonnay Marcassin Vineyard is rich and resonant in the glass. It's a grand, sweeping wine that will thrill those lucky enough to find it. Plush contours wrap around a core of lemon confit, dried herbs, marzipan and white flowers. Brisk acids suggest further time in bottle will be beneficial. Although quite heady in its first impression, the 2021 turns more and more delicate with time in the glass. It's classic Marcassin all the way.
