Pinot Gris, Altenbourg, SGN, 2005
2005 has produced some of the most stunning late harvest Pinot Gris ever seen at the Domaine. This demonstrates the typical richness and complexity of Pinot Gris from a great vintage but what you don't expect is the overwhelming viviacity and clarity that this wine has in abundance. Beautifully crisp so clean and clear, racy fruits perfectly balancing the silky texture and rich acacia honey, plum jam and tropical fruit character.
critic reviews
(from fruit picked after the Quintessence; 11% alcohol, 143 g/l r.s. and 8.6 acidity) Carnal, gamey aromas of honey and damp earth. Wonderfully pure and intense, with powerful acids framing the varietally accurate flavors of orange, lemon and spices. Like a liquid tarte tatin Very sweet, dense and tactile on the extremely long finish.
