Château Chasse Spleen, Médoc, 2010
2009 and 2010 have produced some exquisite wines and some fantastic values. None more so than the trio of Chasse Spleen, Cantemerle and Poujeaux. These are serious, age-worthy wines that won't break the bank. The `10 Chasse Spleen is probably the most genteel and elegant of this trio. Notes of cedar wood, cherry blossom - fragrant and lovely. The palate is packed with small berries, cherries and bitter sweet fruit. There is ample structure, a mouth-coating texture, vibrant acidity and lush, velvety tannins.
critic reviews
The 2010 Chasse-Spleen offers attractive blackberry, briary, cedar and pinecone aromas on the Pauillac inspired nose. Good intensity here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a fine bead of acidity with another graphite-infused, quite sharp finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.
