    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Château Clerc Milon Rothschild, 5ème Cru Classé, Pauillac, 2007

Charming wine with bramble and cherry fruit on the nose; a soft structure on the palate, medium weight, plenty of grippy red fruit and a pleasant chocolatey finish. One of the rare wines in Bordeaux still to add a small amount of Carmenère to the blend.

Good deep red. Expressive aromas of currant, licorice, graphite and chocolatey oak complicated by hints of iron, leather and game. Broad, ripe and lush but quite dry; this tightened up in the glass. Offers very good texture for the vintage, though, finishing with substantial supple tannins that turned a bit tougher with aeration. I'd lay this down for a few years.

    Château Clerc Milon

Owned by the Baron Philippe de Rothschild empire, Clerc Milon has benefited from financial investment of its parent and the technological knowhow of First Growth partner Mouton Rothschild. Situated to the north east of Pauillac close to Duhart Milon and Lafite Rothschild, there are currently 40 hectares in current use with a further five hectares which will come on line in the next few years. Since 2005 the wines have been of excellent quality and the bar is continually being raised. For those who want First Growth wine-making at a fraction of the cost, you’d do well to look at Clerc Milon and d’Armailhac.
