89/100Jane Anson,Inside Bordeaux
Ruby red, raspberry leaf aromatics and oyster shell salinity that kicks in on the opening beats, with brambled fruits and finely-structured tannins. Unfussy and ready to drink, but in terms of being a classified Pauillac in such an exceptional vintage, it is disappointing.

The 2009 Grand-Puy Ducasse shows a small reduction at first, a slightly metallic note that fortunately ebbs away to reveal pleasant baked cherries, tobacco and light graphite aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin that feels a little drier than its peers. Slightly rustic in style with a conservative finish. Expected more. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.
