The 2009 Haut Bages Libéral feels disjointed on the nose with quite punchy graphite aromas coming through, though it needs more cohesion. The palate is medium-bodied with a chewy entry, more red fruit than black, let down by a rather monotone finish. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.

    Château Haut Bages Liberal

The vineyards of this fifth growth property are situated immediately next to those of Château Latour. After a period of under-exploitation, owner and winemaker Claire Villars has worked hard to raise the quality of the wines produced and the fruits of her efforts are visible in that they are gradually regaining the following they enjoyed 100 years ago.
