justerini & brooks tasting note

Deep ruby red. Pure ripe cassis on the nose. Delicious, rich, spicy fruit flavours on the palate, a natural well-balanced wine with fine long tannins. No over extraction or manipulation in a style that is an example of how fine claret should be.

critic reviews

87/100Robert Parker,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

An elegant, easy-going effort, the 2001 Haut-Batailley appears to have more in common with a southern Medoc than most Pauillacs. A deep ruby color and aromas of caramels, black currants, herbs, and oak are followed by a light to medium-bodied, friendly, easy quaffing red to enjoy over the next 7-8 years.

Medium red-ruby. Aromas of berries and game. Supple on entry, then moderately intense and slightly dry in the middle, with a repeating note of game. Could use more sweetness and verve. Slightly tough and rustic on the finish.
