Château La Tour Blanche, 1er Cru Classé, Sauternes, 2024
Initially restrained on the nose, but opening up to delicate white peach and honeysuckle aromas; sweet, rich and generous on the palate, with good structure and weight, and of freshness from the rich citrus and pineapple fruits. Long, complex minerality. One of the stars of the vintage.
critic reviews
The La Tour Blanche 2024 is pale lemon-straw in color. It strolls out with easy-going notes of pineapple and lemon pie, plus hints of lemongrass and candied ginger. The palate is intense and tangy with tropical fruit and savory layers, finishing long and spicy.
The 2024 La Tour Blanche has a fragrant bouquet, finely delineated if not as powerful as previous vintages, with dried honey, yellow flowers, orange pith and touches of quince. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous entry, impressive weight and depth. This is not a profoundly complex La Tour Blanche but it has decent length.
Succulent, silky, sweet mango and apricot puree, this is one of the sweeter of the Sauternes in the year but delivers a twist of lime zest freshness alongside the toffee apple and saffron spice, good quality and a ton of pleasure. 6.5 hl/ha yield.
