Château Lafite Rothschild
Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac, 2014
justerini & brooks tasting note
Produced from 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot, it doesn't really matter what we write about this infamous second label. Even when Mr Parker wades in with 77-79 points (as he did for the 2013), the wine will sell out. It can be very good, but sadly the 2014 is not their finest example. Very mute, some hints of smoky, gravelly redcurrant fruit and cherries, rather hollow and lacklustre. Light on fruit.
