Château Picque Caillou Blanc, Pessac Léognan, 2018
A blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon picked nice and early between the 23rd and 31st August, displaying all the freshness and purity we’ve come to expect from Paulin Calvert’s perennially top value Picque Caillou. Fresh salty citrus and stone notes with real vitality and vibrancy. Fabulous value.
critic reviews
The 2018 Picque Caillou Blanc has a slightly dusty bouquet that I was unable to dislodge with aeration. The palate is simple, with light pineapple and white peach notes, but it never seems to take off. I kept staring at my glass urging "more," but none came.
The Picque-Caillou 2018 Blanc has intense scents of fresh lime juice, green mangos and fresh pears with touches of orange blossom, chalk dust and yuzu. Light to medium-bodied, it sports a crisp line of freshness cutting through the intense citrus and tropical fruit layers, finishing long and chalky.
