The 2025 Picque Caillou has an open bouquet with just a touch of Italian delicatessen permeating the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, with slightly rustic tannins on the entry. Quite compact, it needs a little more flesh towards the finish. This château is now under new ownership, with Clos Manou's winemaker, Stéphan Deif, at the helm. So, I am expecting better wines in the future.
Grilled cedar oak on the nose, plenty of depth and sinew, black fruits. As of 2026 this is owned by UBB president, Laurent Marti, and made Stéphane Dief of Clos Manou. Have to say this was one of the wines that I was most looking forward to tasting this year, but this will be even more true next year, as the sale concluded in March 2026, so they will just age this wine, making this the last vintage made under Isabelle and Paulin Calvet. Yield 25 hl/ha. 34% new oak, Peggy Plouhine is new director.
