    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

On the nose this wine appears to be a real powerhouse, with great intensity and mocha complexity. However, on the palate it is tempered with the elegance that comes from the finest of tannins. Medium bodied, with good balance, this is another extremely good 2005 from the Delon stable.

The 2005 Potensac has a light but agreeable bouquet that feels fresher than Nenin '05 (also from the Delon family). The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's a little rustic in style and feels a bit leathery, needing more freshness to come through on the finish. I suspect this would have benefitted from decanting, but this bottle doesn't really bode well for the future. Tasted at the château.

The Chateau Potensac 2005 sports a clear garnet colour. The nose is modest at first, but nicely defined with blackberry and raspberry fruit, candied orange peel emerging from the background hand in hand with cedar scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and quite noticable acidity. Backward and a litle surly on the finish, this needs another three or four years to come around.
