The 2022 from Rayne-Vigneau opens with a nose which brims with smoky crushed minerals, sweet fruit, lemon meringue, mango and confit apple. It continues as a deliciously sweet and concentrated style on the palate, rounded out with complex depths of confit fruits, praline, toast and mango. It has a sense of charm, but also a little dense confidence. Good potential here.
The 2022 Rayne-Vigneau has a slightly Germanic feel on the nose, with a light petrol note that percolates through the honeyed fruit. The palate is well balanced with a fresh opening and light pear and passionfruit tones mixed with a touch of pineapple, leading to a viscous, nectarine- and peach skin-tinged finish. This is very promising.
Shy and introverted at this stage, the 2022 Chateau de Rayne Vigneau exhales aromas of herbs, fern, licorice and ripe pear. Moderately weighted, sweet and juicy, its a bit heavy, with notes of menthol and spices in the finish. This blend of 73% Semillon, 24% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle was produced at a yield of 14 hectoliters per hectare.
The 2022 de Rayne Vigneau is a blend of 75% Semillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc, with 150 g/L residual sugar. Pale to medium straw in color, it has a nose of pineapple tart and juicy nectarines with hints of crushed rocks, nutmeg, and jasmine tea. The palate is full-on rich and hedonic with plenty of freshness and a wall of citrussy flavors, finishing just a touch warm.
