Puligny Montrachet, Les Folatières, 1er Cru, 2010
One of the higher, stonier vineyards of Puligny, producing some of the commune’s most taut and mineral wines. Initially tense and strict, aeration soon reveals a wine of huge intensity; powerful, salted lime-skin fruit, floral touches of verbena and white flower with a hazelnut and acacia honey richness. Excellent.
critic reviews
Very pale, bright yellow. Ethereal aromas of lemon, lime and white flowers, with hints of ripe peach and high-toned spices emerging with air; wears its 25% new oak gracefully. Supple on entry, then intense and racy in the middle, with an almost painful citric character suggesting that this wine is nowhere near ready to drink. Boasts a wonderfully fine-grained texture and finishes with a real whiplash of fruits and flowers. A beauty.
