Puligny Montrachet, Les Folatières, 1er Cru, 2019
One of the top vineyards in Puligny next to Caillerets, from a high up parcel where the soil is poor and stony but well exposed to the sun, situated in the northernmost corner of this great vineyard, right next to the Leflaive vines. Fermentation and élévage take place in 350 litre barrels, with no bâtonnage, for 12 months before six months in stainless steel.

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres is a fine success, offering up notes of pear, mandarin, fresh bread, peach and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's lively but gourmand, with an attractive core of fruit and a long, expansive finish.
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru displays more mineral tension and energy on the nose compared to the Le Referts. It is very focused with wet limestone, apple blossom and a touch of blackcurrant leaf. The palate is well balanced with a touch of white chocolate on the entry, more expressive and deeper than the Les Referts with more tension and terroir expression on the finish. Excellent.
