Morey St Denis, En La Rue de Vergy, Rouge, 2023
A certain smoky herbal note to the aromatics, and then a sense of delicacy on the palate. A soft gentle easy flowing quality to the fruit, a measured attack of pale red fruits and flowers leading to a chalky stony finish. With every year that the vines get older, this seems to become more complete. The texture in particular feels very grown up now. This is not a big wine, but it is compelling in its soft succulence. Located just above Bonnes Mares, En la Rue de Vergy is planted on poor, rocky limestone soils and this comes through subtly here.

The 2023 Morey Saint-Denis En la Rue Vergy has a very classy bouquet with wonderful definition and a sense of control as it unfurls with blackberry, briar and light blood orange scents. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, fleshy tannins. There is a slightly candied quality to this Morey-Saint-Denis and a touch menthol on the finish. Real vibrancy here.
