Vosne Romanée, Les Rouges du Dessus, 1er Cru, 2010

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Silkier and more supple than this usually is, without losing its trademark raciness or high-toned character. Floral, red berry flavours, touches of fruit compote, velvety and racy at the same time; absolutely glorious. From the high Rouges de Dessous parcel just above Echézeaux, a late ripening gravelly vineyard that yields wines of great vitality.

critic reviews

Stephen Tanzer,Vinous

(Beaumonts was the first vineyard picked in 2010; this was the last, harvested ten days later; still a hint of malic acidity remaining): Deep ruby-red. Tight, slightly reduced nose offers black raspberry, mocha and chocolate. Very ripe and chocolatey on the palate; the sweetest and richest yet of these 2010s, but with enough acidity to give shape to the creamy mid-palate. A late kick of acidity perks up the taste buds but has not yet harmonized with the wine's fruit. Impressively fat wine but I'll hold off on rating it until it's in the bottle.
