Domaine de Montille
Pommard, Les Pezerolles, 1er Cru, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
A blend of two plots within Pezerolles, Les Plants and Le Clos, the former destemmed, the latter fermented whole bunch, owing to vine age. A relatively creamy, velvety offering this, with bittersweet fruit, fine gripping tannins. Aged with 30% new oak.

The 2023 Pommard Les Pezerolles 1er Cru includes one-third whole bunch, though the stems feature prominently on the nose, combining nicely with the dark berry fruit and subtle black tea scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, perhaps just missing a little depth and grip on the mid-palate compared to other cuvées. Perhaps an early-drinking Pommard is in the cards.
